The scope of Sovereign’s announcement, company wide, is unique. Most green building has been reserved for commercial building and the higher end of the residential market. Since Sovereign builds homes priced from $120,000 to over $500,000, first time home buyers, as well as custom home buyers, will receive the benefits of a green built home. The effects of residential green building go beyond the Energy Star programs initiated by EPA. Industry experts expect green building to be the standard for new home construction in the future and can result in energy costs being reduced as much as 40%.
